named Northern Arizona Normal School (NANS) as it used to be a very small
educational institution (having only one professor, three students, and
two copies of sheepskin bound Webster's International Dictionary). But
with time, it started offering a wide range of quality academic programs
and as result continuous flow of student body has started throughout the
year. And keeping this in view, the Arizona Board of Regents, has changed
the name to Northern Arizona University, Flagstaff in May 1, 1966.
Presently, close to 20,00 students attend the Northern
Arizona University, Flagstaff. It offers over 100 Baccalaureate, 40 Postgraduate,
and about 10 Doctoral programs. Exercise science, hotel and restaurant
management, and visual communication are the major ones that are being
offered at the Undergraduate. At the Northern Arizona University, Flagstaff
a state-of-the-art High Altitude Sports Training Complex is present in
addition to a multi-sport training center. Athletes mainly use these in
order to enhance performance and to prepare for different environments.
